Recently, long-time Stepping Stone supporter Yolanda reached out to request our EIN for an important reason—she was making a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from her IRA and had chosen us as one of her charities. Yolanda, a resident of Coon Rapids since 1974, has been married to her husband Erling for 63 years. She retired from Morris Bye Elementary in 1995 after 30 years of teaching and has remained active in the community, volunteering at Mercy Hospital since 2004 with Erling.

Over the years, Yolanda has donated beautiful quilts to our residents and toured our shelter after recent renovations. Her generous spirit extends beyond Stepping Stone; she also supports the Anoka Historical Society, the Andover YMCA, her church, and her college.

By naming Stepping Stone as a recipient of her RMD, Yolanda is helping end homelessness in Anoka County. If you have an IRA and are required to make annual withdrawals, consider designating Stepping Stone for your charitable giving. A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows your RMD to go directly to a nonprofit, offering potential tax benefits while supporting our mission. Talk to your financial advisor to learn more about how you can make an impact with your RMD.

We are incredibly grateful for Yolanda’s ongoing generosity and commitment to making a difference in our community.
