As Stepping Stone Emergency Housing moves into 2025, Executive Director Steve Griffiths has shared some exciting updates about the organization’s impact and growth.
Reflecting on the successes of 2024, Griffiths reported that 30% of the individuals who entered Stepping Stone’s shelter last year—over 70 people—moved into permanent housing. Serving more than 250 people in 2024, this milestone highlights the organization’s commitment to helping individuals transition from homelessness into stable, long-term housing.
Looking ahead to 2025, Stepping Stone is expanding its Long-Term Housing (LTH) Program. For years, this program has provided extended support to 15-20 individuals at a time. Now, in an ambitious step forward, Stepping Stone has already housed 44 people in its LTH program! This initiative allows individuals to live with roommates while continuing to receive case management and support for up to two years, helping them transition successfully into permanent housing.
Additionally, the organization launched a new Housing Stabilization Program, which provides participants with hands-on assistance from case managers. This program is designed to address barriers that may arise during the transition from homelessness to housing, such as roommate conflicts, landlord issues, or access to critical community resources. By offering personalized support, Stepping Stone aims to ensure long-term success for its residents.
“These programs are game-changers,” Griffiths said. “They allow us to help more people transition from our shelter into stable housing at a much faster pace. And it’s all made possible by the incredible support we receive from the community.”
As 2025 unfolds, Stepping Stone Emergency Housing remains dedicated to expanding access to stable housing and providing the resources needed to help individuals rebuild their lives. With the continued support of donors, volunteers, and community partners, the organization is poised to make an even greater impact in the year ahead.
