The Santa Shoppe is Returning to Stepping Stone!

The Santa Shoppe is returning to the shelter this year, and Santa needs your help! Last year, we made a temporary shift and gave our residents gift cards. Many tears of joy were expressed from our residents at the generosity of those that donated gift cards. But we missed giving our residents the experience of “shopping” for Christmas.

On a special day close to Christmas, Santa’s elves arrive and do a holiday makeover of our rec room, sort all the donated items we receive, and set up tables so our residents can “shop” for gift items.

Some residents will “shop” for themselves. They are alone during the holidays and frankly, there is no one in their life that would give them a gift. Others shop for friends or family that they could not afford to purchase a gift for.

To see the joy this brings our residents while they “shop” is heartwarming. We look forward to this every year, so we are thrilled to bring it back.

Christmas can be a difficult and lonely season for anyone, but especially for those who are experiencing homelessness. Together, especially with your help this year, we will make it a special time for our Stepping Stone residents!

Here’s what we need from YOU our holiday elves:

  • Collect new items listed on our wish list. Feel free to share this list with your place of worship, business, neighbors, family, or anyone! Some places of worship and businesses create “giving trees” or gift donation boxes. We happily accept one gift item or many.
  • Items should be unwrapped and dropped by the shelter between December 20-22. We are also available to pick up the items if needed.
  • Know that your donation helps make the season a little brighter for a resident!
