DESCRIPTION:Did you know that there are over 800 homeless youth and over 1\,000 more single 18-24 year olds in Anoka County? Join us to raise awareness! \nWith over 800 homeless youth and nearly 1\,000 homeless young adults in Anoka County\, Hope 4 Youth and Stepping Stone have been serving their needs and bringing awareness of homelessness in our backyard. \nHOPE 4 Youth provides homeless youth a place to get services\, food\, shelter\, and care. They also run Hope Place\, which has room for 22 young people to stay and transition from homeless to hopeful. \nStepping Stone is the only licensed single adult shelter in Anoka County and serves young adults. They provide all the necessary care and counseling to move residents from homeless to hopeful. \nWe are called to bring awareness and understanding of this issue and invite anyone who wants to learn more and help bring awareness to this growing need to join us for a 1.5 mile walk and program. \nCome alone or bring a friend! All are welcomed here! \nRegister before April 15 to secure a t-shirt and receive five tickets for the drawings of sponsors’ gift cards and more. \nAdditional t-shirts and give-away tickets will be available for purchase at the event. \nAgenda \n\n4:00pm-4:45pm Registration\n5:00pm-5:45pm Walk 4 Hope\n6:00pm-7:00pm Music\, refreshments\, and speakers\n\nTickets range from $10-$35. DESCRIPTION:Join and/or support Stepping Stone’s own Jeff Conner\, Development Officer\, at Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth on Saturday\, June 18\, and help run to end homelessness. All donations collected will go directly to help residents of Stepping Stone.\n\n“Please help me raise money for the residents of Stepping Stone. I am running this event to bring awareness to the issue of homelessness and the impacts of mental health struggles on the lives of those experiencing homelessness. \nThe cost to shelter a resident for one night is $45\, so by raising $9\,000 dollars\, together\, we will provide for 200 nights of shelter to help our neighbors become stably housed. \nMy story with Stepping Stone began as a volunteer in the kitchen\, helping to serve and prepare meals. From there\, I helped with the Jobs Club and mentoring of residents. At that time\, I was a business owner and business coach.  When our youngest son\, Waylon\, died by suicide in 2019\, my priorities shifted and I made the decision to help the residents of Stepping Stone in a more direct way\, so I joined the team to help build support for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. \nI ran my first marathon in 2011\, just after I turned 40.  I dreamed of completing a marathon each decade to welcome in the next chapter of my life. I’m a year late because of\, you know\, COVID\, but here I go to celebrate my 51st birthday! \nPlease join me in changing lives by contributing to this fundraising event!” \n\nJoin Jeff by Donating or Running!\n
